A day of recovery was needed, but then we blew it by slacking off the next day instead of picking off remaining dry snow lines above the glacier. Now it’s raining down low, hopefully the temps will drop in the next 24 hours or so for some powder skiing in the trees. No sun forecast for a number of days so the alpine lines are going to be closed for a while.
In the mean time, we’ve been eating our way through La Grave, unfortunately there is a situation with the main bakery going out of business and the remaining bakery putting on a disappointing show, I guess it’s inevitable when one by one the town shops and restaurants close down for the season.
Been sampling some wonderful Plat d’Jours at the local eateries and had a spectacular potluck at Ptor’s place in Ventelon which included a locally sourced flower salad, spectacular local steak and birch tree water!
I also have to respect Ptor’s theory on raising his children in the ongoing construction site that is their home… Teach them young to pay attention and respect their environment, and they should grow up with an inherent awareness all to commonly lacking in today’s youth.
