Skiing
- Interesting sticky snow in the cold shade up high, as always, sharp edges are good here.
- Once there’s a base down, it doesn’t take much snow to reset everything to great skiing again
- It’s cold on the glaciers
- I used flat light lenses every day
- Weather: one, two
Travel
- Try flying to Leon (or Turin)
- Probably can’t ski day of arrival, even getting to Geneva at 7am
- €50 train ride to Grenoble + €15 Bus ride to La Grave, arrive at 3:30pm
- Renting a car might not be that expensive, it’s not really necessary if you’re staying in La Grave the whole time, but opens up the door for easier traveling beyond the valley.
- The train schedule gives a 5am train from Grenoble to Geneva Monday-Friday, this will just barely get you to the airport in time for the 9:15am flight out.
La Grave
- Cell data service in town is largely worthless (especially indoors), I had the best service on the chair lift, but not at the top or at the bottom.
- The Orange wifi plan junk, not widely available in town
- I’ve been staying up until 2 working and getting up at 8 to ski
- It shouldn’t be too tough to find a place to rent for a month here, but you will need to plan ahead.
