Unfortunately, one of our group broke a shoulder and had to fly home, so we doubled back to Park City for more riding and to send him to the SLC airport.
But that led to more fun exploring some of the singletrack that we missed in the previous couple days. Dodging the weekend crowds and PCP2P racers made for some route adjustments, but it was another fun day with great dirt and weather.
I also had the pleasure of speaking with some of the employees at mountaintrails.org who is the local trail coalition for non-motorized trail users. I expressed how impressed I was with the wonderful job they had done stewarding user specific trail development in the area. They did say that it was an “easier” task since they don’t have to deal with the USFS red tape for most of the trail projects in the valley (something about the ski areas being easements instead of leased), but that they had full support of local businesses and the community due to the clear economic impact of the trail system. I highly recommend anyone looking into a good example of how to represent a user group talks to them.
