So, it’s snowed zero centimeters while we’ve been in Niseko, but the skies have been clearing so we took advantage of a couple days to get up the obvious objective (volcano) in the area.
The first day we skinned through the wind into a complete whiteout for the last couple hundred meters of vertical to the summit and had to resort to navigating by iphone GPS and compass to avoid skiing into the crater to get back down.
The second day was a beautiful day on the summit, we got to see the crater and ski a run into it before beginning the 5000ft+ descent back to the trail head.
