Oakridge
- The dirt was unreal when we were here, it sounds like that is quite common during a “normal” precipitation year.
- Eula Ridge is the best trail here.
- Bring clear lenses and lightweight knee pads.
- It would be worth investigating VRBO for a place here, the food selection is not ideal, having the option to cook would be great for long days on the bike.
- You want to be very careful and generally avoid riding on the highways surrounding Oakridge. There aren’t roadies here, so the drivers aren’t expecting it and shoulders are limited or non-existent and who knows how intoxicated the average driver is.
- Most of the shuttle company’s routes involve leaving your car at the bottom of the trail somewhere outside of town.
- There are dirt logging roads everywhere that are in great shape and suitable for most cars for shuttling. The best plan would be to show up with a self shuttle plan in place.
- Low altitude riding is good for you.
- We were a couple of weeks late for the blackberries here, but they are everywhere.
Ashland
- The trails are awesome, but the dryness is more prevalent here than Oakridge and this leads to dusty and looser riding.
- Ashland is a real town with real services.
