More fun things about skiing in France:
- When it’s really hot, the snow is going isothermic, the lift opens for an hour in the morning to bump skiers who want it to the alpine.
- 2150m or so above you there is still dry snow to be had.
Short skin and snow climb to the Pic de La Grave, which I hadn’t skied before, good to get the crampons on and the ice axe out for the first line of the trip.
Follow that up with a skin up to the Col Girose and another short steep glacier line back to trois mille deux.
After an afternoon soire up top we headed down for a nicely soft yet solid run for the remaining 7800 vertical feet of the day.
