If you can say anything positive about skiing in Colorado, it is that it almost never rains in the winter, and when it sprinkles for a couple hours once every 10 years in the valley floor, the rain is not very consequential for the snowpack. (There’s a light rain crust on top of full depth facets… that’s nice)
It rained to about 2500m last night, for most of the night. This is a very different situation, and quite interesting. Similar to what happens when it hasn’t frozen for 4 nights straight in May happens overnight in January on a very large scale, things rip out to the ground every direction you look.
Just like home, I’m looking over my shoulder when I ski, even if it is just 300 vert.
A night of heavy rain would be welcome fix to the snowpack at home at this point.
