Why not ski the Ygrec?
After a beautiful sunshine powder day skiing to P2 and on the glaciar, the real treat came on the last run.
Kurt, Stig and I headed towards the Pan, with so much fresh snow, Stig tied off to cut in the traverse, feeling good about it he went off belay halfway across. Once we regrouped at the Pan ridge, the decision was made to traverse back into the Ygrec. This was perhaps the most committing line I have ever skied, once you go in past the decision point, you’re all in, there’s only one way out. It was key to keep your head on straight while dealing with the exposure, the thin snow and technical traverse line and the unknown of what’s around that corner.
Once you make it to the line, the hard part’s over and you can really enjoy skiing the line we’ve been scoping from the chair the whole trip.
A well earned reward, thanks guys.
