We visited the Museo de Revolucion and got some insight into the history of Cuba and what brought about the current communist government.
Any first time visitor to Cuba should make a stop here, it is a great way to spend the afternoon learning the story of Che and Fidel. Of course the state message might be slightly biased and getting a second opinion will have to wait until we can get back to the internet.
People seem happy here, speaking with our host, I asked specifically about his happiness and the general happiness of people and he thought that the single party system made for a more cohesive government with less derision in the population. This might not seem like the ideal situation, and who knows how much is just state fed propaganda, but happiness says a lot. People are out at all hours of the day and night with smiles on their faces, seemingly in no hurry with no worries. That’s nice to see, it also might contribute to the fact that we can walk around dark alleys at all hours of the night and while feeling completely safe, and we certainly stick out like a sore thumb.
